Q: What is the law on wage garnishment in California? I live in Hayfork up north. Why can't you make nice table just like you did on credit report freeze?
A: Quite bad. California wage garnishment law allows lender to garnish up to 25% of the debtor net disposable earnings. Once the levy has been served it remains in effect until the judgment has been paid in full. The other thing, because California is a community property state, the wages of a non-judgment debtor spouse are also subject to garnishment. As far as making a nice table, I have thought it was too much work, but may be one day ...
