Who can I talk to about my credit history and score?

Q: Who can I talk to to find out my credit history and score?
A: The best way to learn where you stand with your credit history, scores and rating, is to check with your mortgage broker friend, or friend of friend. Don't tell me you don't know any, everyone knows someone in the business. You can either cover their fee, which should not exceed $20, or apply for a home loan just to see where you are. Or you can try to buy a car, tell the dealer you are not sure about your credit. The benefit of taking this route is that you will see the real thing, the one lenders look at when you are looking for a loan. Besides there are number of other ways you can get your credit report and score, the best one right now is probably with TransUnion or Experian. If not check if your credit card issuer offers such a service - American Express and Capital One do that. You can also ask your insurance agent to run credit report for you, as many agencies do it every time before your policy renewal.
