Minimum credit score for mortgage

Q: What is the minimum credit score for mortgage? I am a first time buyer and want to get a home loan, but worry that I won't qualify. My scores are 591, 612 and 637. Someone told me I need 620 middle credit score. What about FHA?
A: That is correct. Pretty much for any type of mortgage, including FHA, your minimum credit score is currently 620. Until couple months ago it was 600, at least for FHA loans. So you are right there. If you have a recent copy of your credit report, take a good look to see what you can do to fix your credit score fast. Increasing your scores quickly by just 10 or so points should be not too difficult.
