The Royal Canadian Mint will raise the premium on Silver Maple Leaf bullion coins

Just in ... the Royal Canadian Mint has advised its bullion distributors that the premium on Silver Maple Leaf bullion coins will be increased from $1.50 USD to $2.00 USD. The change goes into effect on October 18, necessitated by higher costs of production and sourcing the metal, according to an e-mail from the RCM communications office.
Right now, you can still get silver Maple Leaf coins for about 40 cents less than American Eagles, which of course, announced premium increase just a few days ago. See Silver American Eagle Coin vs. Silver Timber Wolf Coin Prices. The silver Ask spot price is at $22.70, some 50 cents less from the yesterday. Still silver remains quite overbought, especially when you look at the daily chart, and today sell off can and should continue. Hopefully, US dealers are not going to charge higher premium till the 18th but good luck with that.
So whatever you decide - buy today on the dip with still lower premium or wait for tomorrow and may be Monday or even Tuesday to see if you can get a better spot price while hoping that premium remains the same - is entirely up to you.
