Settled debt sold to collection agency

Q: We were very happy to settle with the bank for only 38% last March. Paid $8,000 for $21,000 debt that was sitting on three credit cards for some time. But now we are being harassed by Advanced Call Center Technologies which supposedly bought the unsettled debt portion back in August. How could bank sell the settled debt? Is it collectable? This collection agency is offering to settle for $9,000.
A: Advanced Call Center Technologies has been in trouble recently, because its reps got caught on tape using racist and obscene language trying to collect. I think the agency has to pay or already paid over a million to the person they harassed. Now, sure settled debt is sold to the collectors every day by the creditors. You should have a letter from Bank of America which details the whole settlement. This is your proof. Meanwhile send this Previously settled debt letter to Advanced Call Center Technologies. Case closed.
